Managed by the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC), C4 represents the evolution of traditional vocational training into a sophisticated, high-tech learning environment. While our roots go back to the industrial growth of the mid-20th century, we officially rebranded to C4 to better reflect our mission: connecting students with the skills, certifications, and collegiate credits necessary for high-wage, high-demand careers in the 21st century.
As a regional hub for innovation, C4 operates as a multi-county partnership, serving students not only from Bartholomew County but also from Brown, Decatur, Jackson, and Johnson counties. This cooperative model allows us to pool resources and provide state-of-the-art facilities—including advanced labs at Columbus North, Columbus East, and the McDowell Education Center—that no single district could maintain alone. By integrating rigorous academic standards with hands-on technical training, we ensure that our students are equally prepared for the workforce or post-secondary education.
Our success is deeply rooted in our unique relationship with the Columbus community and local industry giants. Through a long-standing partnership with the Community Education Coalition (CEC) and industry leaders like Cummins and Ivy Tech, C4 continuously aligns its curriculum with real-world workforce needs. From Robotics and Biomedical Sciences to Aerospace and Nursing, our "pathways" are designed to be more than just classes; they are the bridge between high school graduation and professional success. Today, C4 stands as a national model for how schools and industries can work together to empower the next generation of professionals.

C4 will connect community resources to provide career education for all students while laying the foundation for life-long learning.
C4 Core Values
All students deserve the opportunity to participate in an appropriate C4 program, regardless of gender, disability, home high school, or academic program.
- All students should be adequately prepared for the workplace. A partnership between schools and business/industry is necessary to facilitate that preparation.
- All students should be safe at all times and trained to avoid hazards of the classroom/workplace experience.
- All students can learn and benefit from applying classroom knowledge/experiences to problem solving situations in C4 programs and the workplace.
- All students deserve to be respected for their participation in C4. Their self-esteem is directly related to achievement.
C4 Goals and Challenges
C4 staff and stakeholders have identified six goals and resulting challenges that are critical to the success of the program. These six challenges are the basis for all activities and services provided by C4.
Accessibility - Accessibility of C4 programs and classes for all students considering scheduling, transportation and calendar restraints.
Image and Appeal - Awareness of C4 programming throughout the region focusing on the opportunities available through career and technical education.
Curriculum, Standards, and Articulation - Changing needs for interdisciplinary and integrated curriculum based on the expectations of post-secondary institutions and employers.
Resources - Enhancing student performance through the redesign of programs and facilities and by the efficient and effective management of resources.
Safety - Providing a working and learning environment that complies with federal and state safety regulations.
School Climate - Exposing students to an improved learning environment through enhanced faculty and staff satisfaction and motivation.
C4 Columbus Area Career Connection offers career and technical education programs to students of Bartholomew, Brown, Jackson, and Decatur counties as well as students from Edinburgh Community Schools.
