What is it?

Ag Sciences provide a foundational overview of modern agriculture through hands-on lab work, project-based learning, and leadership development. The course connects core scientific principles to real-world applications in food production, natural resources, and agribusiness.

Plant and soil science: Students learn about plant anatomy and physiology, growth, classification, and propagation. They study soil science, including composition, fertility, and conservation.

Animal science: This unit covers the biology, genetics, and nutrition of livestock and other domesticated animals. Topics often include animal anatomy, health, reproduction, and humane care.

Students can experience leadership opportunities through workshops, career development events, contests, community service and special projects.

In October, Columbus FFA members joined 70,000 other FFA members from around the country at the National FFA Convention & Expo. They learn about agricultural career opportunities, attend leadership workshops, visit with more than 60 universities, and experience real life agricultural opportunities!
