What is it?
Architecture will introduce students to architecture and related careers in engineering, interior design, drawing, modeling and documentation of structures. Students will complete instructor-led projects and progress to designing and modeling projects independently. Daily sketching activities will develop basic hand drawing skills with most projects being designed utilizing computer-aided design software in three dimensions. Students will engage in projects throughout the semester that teach creative problem solving, critical thinking, and the development of technical skills.

ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN COMPETITION
Since 1971, the Indianapolis Chapter of the American Institute of Architects has hosted a statewide architectural design competition for Indiana’s high school students. Our goal is to encourage the future generation of architects to enter the design field, and to promote the importance of architecture and design to all. The competition is an excellent vehicle for students to explore an interest in architecture and design, win scholarships, cash prizes, build their resume and gain exposure to design professionals.
